Getting Involved

God Talk on Tap

Friendship currently sponsors two God Talk on Tap communities. God Talk on Tap provides a space for provocative conversation about faith and doubt, God and the world, religion and spirituality where we don’t check our brains at the door! At its core, the word theology simply means, “words about God.” At God Talk On Tap we are on the search for how our words or ideas about who God is relates to the rest of our lives, some might call this practical theology!

Community Breakfast

On the first Saturday of the month we gather for food and fellowship at the Norwood Park Restaurant. Contact Jim Lifton at jimlifton@sbcglobal.net for more information!

All Church Night

This year we will gather quarterly for Family Friendly activities at the Train Station. Come and build community, deepen friendships, meet new folks, and have fun!

Friday Night Love Songs

On the third Friday of every month we gather for a concert at Friendship Presbyterian Church. There’s no door fee, there’s always good entertainment and plenty of food! Each month we take a free will offering for a local or national organization that we believe in such as the New Hope Food Pantry, The Chicago Night Ministry, and Heifer International. If you would like to get involved or recommend musicians contact Ralph Intagliata at Ralph.Intagliata@waters.nestle.com.

The Night Ministry

Friendship partners with The Night Ministry (a Chicago based organization that provides medical, housing, and nourishment to the homeless communities in the city) twice a month to provide meals for the Health Outreach Bus in Uptown and the Crib (a shelter for youth and young adults in Lakeview). To get involved in these ministries, contact Kathy Stear at krstear@aol.com for more info on the Crib and Emily Sutton at sutgrp@gmail.com to find out more about the Outreach Health Bus!

Community Luncheon

On Thursdays we gather at 12:30PM for brown bag lunch and community conversation. We are also teaching and learning from one another— everything from how to knit to sharing recipes and discussing books. We are often working collaboratively on sewing, knitting, or crafting projects to enhance the mission and community life at Friendship. This includes a Card Care Ministry, making prosthesis for the American Cancer Society, and knitting blankets or prayer shawls for local hospitals and community members. All are welcome! To get involved, please contact Emily Sutton at sutgrp@gmail.com.
