Pastor: Rev. Shawna Bowman (they/their/theirs) is the first called and installed pastor of Friendship Presbyterian Church and has been doing ministry with the creative and justice-seeking folks here since 2011. Shawna is most grateful for the creativity, energy, and compassion the Friendship folks exhibit in everything from worship to community engagement. Shawna is a 2009 grad from McCormick Theological Seminary where they currently serve in Experiential Education and as Affiliate Faculty. Shawna is also a Co-founder of Creation Lab, an art collective and a working studio space at the intersection of creativity, spirituality and prophetic imagination located in Edgewater.

Operations Manager: Kasey Trouba (she/her/hers) is a Chicago based jack of all trades. By day, Kasey delights in serving as the Operations Manager for Friendship’s vibrant and lovely community. By night, she works as a stage manager, production manager, and event coordinator for several local theatre and performance companies. In her off time, she travels to National Parks with her fiance and friends to hike and hone her film photography skills. When she isn’t in the wilderness, you can find Kasey at home tending to the two cats, one dog, and numerous house plants that she mothers with her fiance.

Musician: Josh Lava (he/him/his) is a musical chameleon who has amassed an impressive and eclectic body of work as a multi-instrumentalist, producer/engineer, composer, and songwriter across the genre spectrum. Whether he’s composing for full orchestra, performing live with a jazz trio, or producing an electronic dance track, Josh is musically at home pretty much anywhere. No matter what genre he’s working in, Josh strives to create music that is equally rewarding to the head and the heart, merging sophistication with accessibility, intelligence with passion.
Intern: Blake Collins (he/him/his) is originally from the Baltimore area and attended school in Philadelphia. Most currently, Blake has worked with the Young Adult Volunteer program and McCormick’s Solidarity Building Initiative. With his partner Kelsey and cat Phoebe, Blake lives in Hyde Park, attends McCormick Seminary, roots for the Ravens, and loves to connect biblical prophets to current artists like Earthgang, Isaiah Rashad, and others. Blake is grateful for the hospitality of the Friendship community and their commitments towards inclusion, affirmation, justice, and accountability.
Intern:Ellis Billington (he/him/his) was born and raised in Golconda, IL, but moved to Chicagoland when he started college. He received his BA in Humanities with a minor in English Writing from North Central College in May 2020. He is currently working toward his MDiv with a concentration in LGBTQ studies at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Ellis plans to be ordained as a pastor in the United Church of Christ, but he is passionate about working with and learning from various denominations. Ellis lives in Evanston with his partner, Liam (who uses they/them pronouns), and cats, Theo and Iris. In his free time, Ellis enjoys reading, writing, playing games with friends, and spending time in nature.
